About the Lit Review Lab
The Lit Review Lab exists because graduate school teaches you what to produce but rarely how to produce it efficiently.
I'm Amelia McNew, and I created this program after watching too many doctoral students—including myself—waste months spinning wheels on literature reviews. Despite being a professional editor for over 20 years, I was shocked by how unprepared I felt when facing my own dissertation's literature review chapter.
The problem isn't that students lack intelligence or dedication. The problem is that most doctoral programs assume you'll somehow intuit a complex, multi-stage process that nobody explicitly teaches.
What You'll Find Here
This site houses the systematic approach I developed to transform literature review chaos into manageable, efficient progress. The methods here aren't theoretical—they're proven techniques I used to get my own literature review approved with minimal revisions, and the same editorial strategies I've used to guide other doctoral students through the process.
Why This Approach Works
Traditional academic instruction often gets bogged down in abstract concepts when what students actually need are concrete, actionable steps. My background spans both academic rigor and professional efficiency, which means these methods prioritize getting quality work done without unnecessary complexity.
The Lit Review Lab courses distill years of editorial experience and recent doctoral work into practical systems you can implement immediately. No theoretical frameworks to decode—just clear processes that work.
My Commitment
Every technique, template, and strategy on this site serves one purpose: helping you complete a literature review that satisfies your committee while preserving your time and mental well-being.
Graduate school is demanding enough. Your literature review doesn't have to be another source of endless frustration.
